Neelum Valley – Lakes Details

Nadra Lake - Narda Lake is situated on the north side of Sharda. Narda Lake is covered by surrounding peaks, situated at 15000 ft height and considered as peace, harmony and prosperity in world.







Shonter Lake - This is a small lake located in the Neelum Valley in Azad Kasmir - Pakistan.it is In the middle of lush green valley, is a beautiful lake with interesting shape. This is a small but very beautiful natural lake. It is located in the Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir. It is also called the Jewel of Neelum because of its unique beauty and spectacular view.






The trek to the lake is a bit tough so is only recommended for regular trekkers. The Neelum Valley from Kel divides into two sub valleys namely- Shonter valley and Graze Valley. From the Domail Bala - Neelum Side, it takes around a day long climbing to reach to this lake. After this point there are very residents. You might find few summer huts of locals on the lake. The lake has a breathtaking beauty and is surrounded by mountains with mighty heights. Horses can also be hired from Kel and now there is also a jeep route to reach the lake.







Chitta katha - Chitta Katha means white stream; it is the local name of the stream coming down from the Hari Parbat originating from the lake called Chitta Katha Sar or lake of the Mount Hari parbat. This Mountain is sacred for some people who relate it to Lord Shiva and consider it abode of the Lord and identify it as Kailash. It is located in Shontar valley of the Tehsil sharda of Neelum. Chita katha can also be approached from kel to domel bala about 20 km through jeeps and then 5km trekking by foot. It is located at an altitude of 4,100 meters (13,500 ft).







Kasher Lake - Beautiful Kasher Lake can be seen in Village Khawaja Seri, lash green water and Slow River makes it the lake, where river rafting and boating can be arranged. This is very charming place between keran and Sharda, Tourist love to take a rest at this location.







Sharogi Lake - Sharogi is a place near Kel, where Shounther River meets Neelum River.







Saral Lake - Saral is beautiful name but Saral lake is more beautiful than its name and it can be seen from miles because it is deep down and can be seen from Saral Gali, even than it is hidden lake rather un-explored and unspoiled because only few people went there to touch the beauty of this lake. This lake mesmerize you when you are away from it and when you go near it, you will fall in love with it. Its sapphire blue water and white swans of ice floating on its surface made it more adorable, it is every trekkers dream lake. There are stages to reach Saral Lake, One journey from Muzafferabad to Sharda and Night stay at Sharda. Two, journey from Sharda to Gumut National Park Area through jeep and stay. Three, journey to Saral Lake through saral Nala by foot travelling and after four hours reach to saral and stay.







Kishen Lake - Kishen Lake is situated near historical place sharda in Kharigam Village, A beautiful view of Sharda can be seen while sitting nearby lake, and locally people called this a Zig Zag lake on river Neelum. Opposite side of Kishen Ghati village and some cave can be found where Hindu prayer place situated.







Pattlian Lake - Pattlian Lake situated 18 km from lawat village. Patlian Lake is situated at 12 thousand foot height from sea level.







Rati Ghali Lake - Ratti Gali Lake is situated at 12,130 ft ASL in Neelum Valley. This lake is accessible by a 19 km hiking trek which starts from a village called Dowarian on Neelum Valley road at an altitude of 5,300 ft. From Dowarian a headstrong and ruthless trek leads towards the Rattigali pass which about 19 kilometers towards west, connects the Neelum and Kaghan Valleys. There also lies a mesmerizing beauty which is known as the Ratti Gali Lake and the trekkers or climbers have to track 2 days from Duwariyan to visit Ratti Gali Lake which is located almost 12,130 ft high above sea level. In the summer season, the whole area around this mesmerizing lake becomes a place of lush green meadows, wild, magnificent flowers and radiant alpine plantations while in winter this valley is covered with white snow and big chunks of Glacier floats.
