Neelum Valley - Adventures


Trekking and Hill Walking - Neelum is an excellent destination for trekking and hill walking. There are a number of trekking routes all along the valley. Brief descriptions of some famous trekking routes are Jagran -Baboon, Dewarian- Rati Ghal, Surgan Gumut, Noori Narr, Kel-Arrangkel, Shounthr-Chitta Katha, Shounthar and Taobutt- Kamri, ideal base camps trekking and outings.

There are also good opportunities for those interested in more leisurely day trips, hill walking or nature studies.






Fishing - Trout fishing is a popular activity in the Neelum Valley. Fishing for trout in the crystal clear water of the valley lakes and in the River Neelum is favorite pastime. A fishing permit can be obtained from the Fisheries Department at Sharda, kuttan, Kel. Bringing your own angling gear is optional as you can rent equipment from shopkeepers in nearby Bazaar.






Please remember that the use of fishing nets and explosive materials for fishing in rivers and lakes are illegal as they are harmful for the healthy and sustainable growth of trout fish and other wildlife.







Horse Riding - Horse riding is a favorite activity for families during their trip to Neelum Valley. Ponies are easily available for rent at Jagran, Dewarian, Kel and Taobutt. A horse ride in toabutt can be a most enjoyable experience. For the more adventurous, a longer ride of two to three days in the upper valley can be a momentous journey.






Evoke, one of the most thrilling trips is from Taobutt to Kamri Pass.







Jeep Safari - Short duration jeep rides is sharda to Gumut & Noori Top, Neelum Valley is also ideal for thrilling jeep rides from Kel to Taobutt. All these places are unique in landscape. While going on a longer duration jeep ride make sure you have selected a good local driver and jeep for a safe journey on the rough roads.







Climbing - Neelum valley is an exhilarating place for amateur climbers to learn the basic skills of mountaineering. Hari Parbat (6,000), Nangi mali (5,076) are the main peaks of the Neelum Valley. Nagi Mali Parbat might be less in height but it is quite technical to climb and a true challenging.







Mountain Biking - Neelum Valley has become is venue for the most challenging mountain bike race in Pakistan. Adventure tourists can enjoy mountain biking on the main route of Neelum Valley especially, a trip up to Noori Top & Muzafferabad to taobutt, by passing through the stunning landscape and settlements of friendly surroundings is without doubt a rewarding experience. Cycling tours can also be managed.







River Rafting - River Rafting & boating are new sports currently under development along the Neelum River. As the lifeline of Neelum Valley, Neelum River is excellent for rafting. Some sections between Dudniayl to Sharda, Kel, Taobutt are fun for beginners and are of relatively easy grade.
